“Blues in the Night” quilt by Jan Lipsen
The Pointless Sisters is an art quilt group whose members’ quilts have been shown nationally and internationally. Using a variety of non-traditional quilting and surface design techniques its members produce stunning and innovative fiber arts.
The group of 50 contemporary artists challenge each other annually to produce quilts with a common theme. The two most recent challenges will be in this exhibit: “Black & White & One Color” and “Flowers” .
The 50 members meet regularly to further their commitment to bringing art quilting to the community, share their knowledge and discuss new trends, and promote their exhibits.
Recent exhibits include the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles, who invited the Pointless Sisters to create an exhibit on the Russian River Watershed, highlighting the diversity of agriculture, wildlife and natural resources of the area.
Annual exhibits are also held in Santa Rosa at the Laguna Foundation, the Finley Community Center, and the Rincon Library.
A hosted reception with the artists will be held on Saturday, October 7th from
2-5 PM and is open to the public.
The OCA gallery is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm, during Occidental Center for the Arts events and by appointment. For information dial: 707-874-9392 or on the net at www.occidentalcenterforthearts.org
