The Ballet Lover, as told from the point of view of a young ballet-loving journalist, exposes the beauty and cruelty in the professional world of ballet, the intense performances, the backstage intrigues, and the stars…Rudolf Nureyev and Natalia Makarova.
A short reading by the author, Barbara L. Baer, followed by a conversation about the novel, and ballet, with Baer and ballerina and SSU dance instructor, Jennifer Jaffe. Moderated by writer Susan Swartz. There will be time for questions from the audience, book sales and signing.

Barbara L. Baer has lived in Forestville for nearly four decades. In earlier years, she was less settled, living in India and Uzbekistan, traveling to watch ballet performances in Paris,meet a soviet pomegranate botanist in Turkmenistan, watch tortoises move slowly in the Galapagos. She was always writing and is fortunate to recall adventures and experiences for her fiction and essays, including a novella Grisha the Scrivener and publications in many places, from The Nation to Redbook to Orion Magazine.
