OCA is pleased to host rising star Dan Walsh on tour from the U.K. Nominated for 2016 Folk Musician of the Year at the BBC Folk Awards, Dan is one of the finest banjo players in the U.K., as well as being a superb singer, songwriter and guitarist. He is touring the world to promote his 2017 solo album Verging on the Perpendicular after previous critically acclaimed album releases. At the heart of his music are British, Irish and American folk tunes with a healthy dose of funky grooves, lively humor, poignant and socially relevant lyrics and his own dazzling take on clawhammer style banjo. Having made his name with the duo ‘Walsh and Pound’, he is now an extremely busy solo performer and member of the award-winning Urban Folk Quartet
Dan Walsh’s eclectic and innovative approach has led to many exciting collaborations with fellow banjoist John Dowling and others. He is an in-demand sessions musician, a teacher of banjo (Midwest Banjo Camp), and maintains a passion for outreach work (Live Music Now) in U.K. hospitals, hospices, schools and care homes. You won’t want to miss this incredibly gifted performer who has wowed audiences across the world on stage at OCA’s acoustic sweet spot! $15 Advance/$18 at the door.
