Acclaimed drummer, composer and teacher Barbara Borden joins colleague Larissa Montfort to share Djembe & Chants and Dundun Dance lessons!
No experience necessary! Drums provided – bring your enthusiasm!
This workshop features two drumming disciplines:
West African Djembe & Chants
Yes, it is possible and a whole lot of fun to drum and chant at the same time! You will learn African chants and accompanying drumbeats on your djembe. Beware…the vibrations from your voice and drum may cause you to enter a blissful state!
Drum while you dance, dance while you drum! Dundun dance is an artform from the Baga women of northern Guinea. Build your coordination and technique as you learn several stick patterns and dance simple moves around the drums.
