His award-winning albums both honor the banjo’s long role in the world’s music, turning historical connections into compelling sounds. His latest album Jayme Stone’s Folklife (2017) follows the bends and bayous through the deep river of song and story. This ensemble of versatile musicians includes Jayme Stone on banjo and vocals, Moira Smiley (voice & Brown Paper Ticketsaccordion), Sumaia Jackson (fiddle, voice), and Joe Phillips (bass, voice). Enjoy spellbinding singing, virtuoisic playing and captivating storytelling as they offer Sea Island spirituals, Creole calypsos and stomp-down Appalachian dance tunes with a fresh, inventive spin from Library of Congress’ Folklife archives.
