Welcome to Occidental Center for the Arts

A New Mural for OCA

An eight member Mural Committee, with members from the Board of Occidental Center for the Arts, local artists, Harmony Village residents, and the community-at-large, has awarded the competitive mural contract to well known muralist Dave Gordon.

This summer Dave will install a new mural to replace the deteriorating Harmony School mural on the wall facing the intersection of Graton Rd. and Bohemian Hwy.

THE PUBLIC IS INVITED to the first of two PUBLIC MEETINGS to be held at the OCA auditorium at 7 p.m. FRIDAY, APRIL 10 to meet the artist and express their ideas about the mural content. Follow-up meeting to be Friday April 24 at 7 pm. There will be illustrations by the artist. Please submit theme ideas to occidentalmural@sonic.net.

Mission

The Occidental Center for the Arts exists to provide a welcoming and accessible venue for the performing and visual arts in Occidental, California. Our mission is to enrich our community by providing diverse cultural experiences that inspire, educate, and entertain.

Vision

In the 10 mile radius of Occidental, we have some of the most talented musicians, artists, and actors in Sonoma County.  Our wish to bring world class talent to our small town was also developed with the idea to create a space for local artists to perform, develop, and display their work.

Today we have an acoustically sound auditorium, with a professional stage, light and sound board, audience seating with great sight lines, an art gallery, and and art clasroom. The Redwood Arts Council and Occidental Community Choir, long-term community presenting organizations, have made OCA their preferred performance venue. We have performances, literary events and visual art exhibits year round. Read more about the history, who we are today and future plans for OCA plus how you can help us reach our goals. OCA is wheelchair accessible.
