Join Paige Braddock and Mary Shyne as they talk about creating graphic novels for both young adults and early readers. They will be sharing excerpts from their most recent work and talking about character and story development.

Paige Braddock is an award-winning creator and Creative Director Emeritus at Charles M. Schulz’s Studio in Santa Rosa. Her graphic novels for kids include Stinky Cecil and Peanut, Butter, & Crackers, which won a Beverly Cleary Children’s Choice Award. And have been translated into multiple languages. The fifth book in the Peanut, Butter, & Crackers series, Christmas Surprise, was recently released by Nosy Crow in the UK and Greece. Paige’s Eisner-nominated comic strip, Jane's World, was the first gay-themed comic work to receive online distribution by a national media syndicate in the U.S. The comic strip compled its 20-year run in 2018.

 

Mary Shyne is a Chicago-area native, who spent a decade in New York working in publishing before getting her MFA at the Center for Cartoon Studies. She currently lives in the Bay Area where she works on all things Snoopy at Charles M Schulz’s Studio. Mary’s debut graphic novel, You and Me on Repeat, was nominated for the ALA's William C. Morris Award and named a Best Book of 2025 by New York Public Library.
